Sabre Books Room for First Sabre Hospitality Solutions Intern from Cornell
Founded in 1992, the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration (SHA) was the first hospitality management collegiate program in the world. Today, it is considered one of the top programs of its kind. With a reputation like this, it's only fitting that Sabre Hospitality Solutions hired their first intern from this notable program.
Peter Carrera, Cornell University senior, is a product of this first-class educational program. The SHA curriculum is taught in state-of-the-art classrooms in an on-campus hotel, The Statler Hotel. SHA students hear from a variety of hospitality experts who share their insight in the industry. Sessions led by corporate executives, entrepreneurs and 60 experienced faculty members equip these prospective professionals with knowledge from years of experience the field.
One of these industry experts was our own, Brant Deranger, VP of Sabre Hospitality Solutions Delivery Management. While visiting Cornell University to speak to a class in the SHA program, Brant engaged in a conversation with Peter about our internship program. A few months later, Peter came to Sabre to make history as one of the first Sabre Hospitality Solutions interns.
"This internship gave me exposure to a different side of hospitality that I haven't seen before," said Peter. "Instead of the business to customer (B2C) aspect I usually see, I was able to experience the business to business (B2B) scope. I was able to see the back-end of how our solutions help customers succeed in their businesses."
Peter had a positive experience during his summer at Sabre. He was given the opportunity to work on meaningful things that had an impact on the business.
"I love hospitality because it all about customer experience and building relationships with people," Peter said. "It is incredibly important that we build trust with our customers to be seen as a respectable business partner who provides solutions to help them fulfill their customers' needs."
